Monedra Pratap joined the Department of Civil Engineering as an Assistant Professor in August 2024. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Structural Engineering at SVNIT, following the completion of his M.Tech in Structural Engineering from NIT Patna. Pratap’s research is focused on enhancing the seismic resilience of steel structures. His work specifically explores the design of steel beam-column joints and the development of mechanical dampers that can absorb and dissipate seismic energy, as well as be replaced after significant seismic events. He has published two Q1 SCI research papers in Elsevier journals and has contributed two technical conference papers to Springer Nature, presented at the 17th SEE at IIT Roorkee and SEC 23 at NIT Nagpur. In addition to his research, Mr. Pratap holds one design registration. He is actively involved in consultancy projects related to structural design for a variety of applications, including institutional, public, residential, and innovative projects. His work demonstrates a strong commitment to advancing structural safety and performance, particularly in seismic-prone regions.
