  • Semiconductor Chips are widely considered the new oil, and in 2021 an automobile on average included about 1200 chips of various specifications, twice as many as that in the year 2010. There exists a global shortage of chips and chip designers, and it is aggravated as demand surged for consumer electronic devices during the Covid-19 pandemic, thus creating unprecedented opportunities for the chip design and manufacturing industry. According to Deloitte’s 2023 semiconductor industry outlook, employment in the semiconductor will have to rise by a million by 2030 to cater to the huge workforce shortfall. Software is moving the chip industry forward with new styles of computations needed in technologies like AI, and chipmakers are increasingly taking a software-first approach in hardware development to support emerging applications. India extended its vision for AatmaNirbharBharat to semiconductor chips with the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM)—which has a financial outlay of Rs. 76,000 crore for designing and manufacturing of chips
    Taking cognizance of this national and global opportunity, DIT University has started a program in Computer Science and Engineering with a specialization in Chip Design. The multidisciplinary program is a strong amalgamation of hardware and software concepts required to design a variety of chips. Successful graduates of this program will be in very high demand and are likely to get immediately recruited by multinational semiconductor companies.
    Students admitted to B. Tech CSE Chip design program will have the dual advantage of getting exposed to core concepts of Computer Science, and also enrol in specialized elective subjects to become an expert in designing chips for a variety of uses.

 

Duration & Eligibility

B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in Chip Design
(4 Years)

1. Passed 10th Class Examination with 60% marks in aggregate from recognized board.
2. Passed 10+2 Examination with 60% marks in aggregate of Physics,Math,English and any one of the following subjects: Chemistry/ Computer Science/Electronics/Information Technology/ Biology/Informatics Practices/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational subject/ Engineering Graphics/Business Studies/Entrepreneurship.
3. Secured pass marks in Physics and Math in 10+2.
