About Program

Our MSc Forensic Science program is designed to nurture and transform aspiring scientists into experts who can contribute to developing a robust and reliable judicial system for the future. The program is Co-hosted by the School of Physical Sciences and Healthcare Professionals. The program focuses on providing students with skill-based training in evidence collection, handling, and analysis to equip them with the expertise needed to investigate crimes effectively and ensure justice is served.

While traditional forensics is centred around specialties such as fingerprints, questioned documents, ballistics, speaker recognition, video-authentication, analytical chemistry, toxicology, explosives, serology, and DNA analysis, the field has undergone significant evolution. Today, forensic science encompasses a broader range of novel techniques that facilitate more efficient, streamlined, and fool-proof methods of investigation, yielding more accurate and reliable results.

In addition to laboratory-based work, the field of forensic science has expanded to include opportunities in authentication testing, standardization, quality assessment, and testing in various sectors. Our program encourages students to develop the confidence to work with cutting-edge technology and apply it to become comprehensive experts in their chosen areas. To support this, we provide access to state-of-the-art laboratory facilities that cater to their thirst for knowledge and skill development.
