  • Brief Profile

    Dr Sudipta Chakraborty joined the Department of English as an Assistant Professor in January 2025. Dr. Chakraborty received her PhD in South Asian Religious Studies from IIT Kharagpur, and an MPhil in American Modernist fiction from the Department of English, Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Dr. Chakraborty’s interests center upon Religious Studies, particularly Indic Goddess Tradition, Health Humanities and South Asian Healing. She has completed three courses on Religious Studies from the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies, Oxford, United Kingdom. She completed a course on Border studies in collaboration with Cornell University USA and Jadavpur University Kolkata. She completed a UGC approved course on translation studies. She has twice been the proud recipient of bursaries from the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies, University of Oxford, United Kingdom. She is the proud recipient of Modernist Studies in Asia Network (MSIA) travel grant in 2019. She has received Biyotkesh Tripathy Best Interdisciplinary Paper in 2023. She is the recipient of St. Aloysius Best Research Paper Award 2024. She has also received the Best paper presenter Certificate in an International Conference in 2022 organized jointly by VIT Chennai, University of Sussex, University of Leeds, Segi University Malaysia. She has several published articles in India and abroad to her credit. She is a Published author in Scopus indexed Journals. She frequently presents her research papers in India and abroad. Her research interest include: Indic Aesthetics, Feminist Philosophy, Indic Goddess Tradition, Religious Studies and Health Humanities.
