  • Brief Profile

    Dr. Ravi Kumar Shukla joined Department of Physics, School of Physics Sciences DIT University in 2014. He has done his PhD in Physics from Thapar university, Patiala, Punjab and Post Doctorate from Technical University Darmstadt, Germany. Dr. Shukla is involved in teaching, research and many administrative responsibilities (Associate Head Department of Physics). He is teaching various courses to Ph.D., M.Sc., B.Sc. and B. Tech. level. Courses undertaken by Dr. Shukla are Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Nanomaterials and their applications, Materials Characterization, Soft matter physics, Statistical Mechanics, Renewal Energy and Energy Harvesting, Device Application and Instrumentation, Engineering Physics, Wave Optics and Introduction to Quantum Mechanics. On research front, Dr. Shukla is actively working in the field of soft materials, nanocolloids, nanostructured materials, carbon-based materials, graphene based liquid crystals, dye degradation and adsorption and water purification technologies, polymers and polymer nanocomposites, antibacterial activities of liquid crystals and their hybrids. Dr. Shukla has expertise in the synthesis of liquid crystals, nanomaterials, colloids and polymer-based materials/ thin films and familiar with characterizations techniques Viz. XRD, SEM, UV-Vis, FTIR, POM, dielectric, optical and electrooptical.

    Dr. Shukla is founder member and coordinator of Advanced Functional Smart Materials Centre of Excellence. He has completed one SERB/ DST sponsored project (Rs. 39.3 Lakhs) and running DRDO sponsored projects (Rs. 21.2 lakhs) as a Co-PI and also completed many seed money projects. Dr. Shukla published about 40 papers in WOS/Scopus journals of repute. He has considerable h and i10 index ≈11. Dr. Shukla is serving as a reviewer for DST, National Science Centre, Poland, ACS, RSC, Elsevier, Tylor and Frances, springer etc.

    Dr. Shukla has active collaboration with Prof. Achintya N Bezbaruah, North Dakota State University, USA, Prof. Dr. Alexey Bubnov, The Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic, Dr. K. K. Raina, M S Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Bangalore, Dr. Pankaj Chamoli, Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun, Dr. Sumit Bhardwaj, Chandigarh University, Mohali, Dr. Ashok Chaudhary, Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya Mukerian (Affiliated to Panjab University Chandigarh), Punjab.
