Dr. Ashok Behera had joined Faculty of Pharmacy, DIT, University on 11th Jan 2019 in a capacity of Assistant Professor. Prior to this, he has worked in the position Postdoctoral Research Associateship of (Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), An Autonomous Body of Govt of India) 2015-2018, and Assistant professor at the Pharmacy Department, The MS University of Baroda, Vadodara, Gujarat (2013-15). He has total 14 year of mixed experience including teaching, and research. Dr. Behera completed his PhD (Pharmacy) in June, 2014 from Jadavpur University (CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology), M.S Pharm in Medicinal chemistry 2009 from NIPER- KOLKATA and B. Pharm 2007 from BPUT, Odisha. He is recipient of Science and Engineering Research Board-Teachers Associateship For Research Excellence (SERB-TARE) fellowship 2020-24, Mentor for CSIR-summer research training program (CSIR-SRTP) 2020, Best E-poster presentation APTICON2019, ACS Chemical Biology Best poster award 2016, Post Doc Research Associateship (RA-CSIR) 2015-18, Best poster presentation of NIPICON-2014, Senior Research Fellowship (SRF-CSIR)2013, Young Researcher Award ARCEB2010, Senior Research Fellowship (SRF-DAE) 2009-12, GATE 2007 & 2009 (Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineers). He is also the principal investigator for several Govt and privately funded project. To his credit, he has published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers and 4 published patents. His major research includes, target-oriented and lead-based design and development of New Chemical Entities (NCEs) from natural and synthetic scaffolds against Anti-cancer, Antidiabetic, Antioxidant, Alzheimer’s and Hepatoprotective. Additionally, he is a member of the royal society of chemistry (MRSC), London, also serving as a life member of Indian peptide society. He is Currently guiding 3-PhD students and already guided 14 students for PG research projects.
